Our Story

Shari Aldrich, LMTShari Aldrich, LMT
President of Bodymechanics Institute

“My journey into school ownership began in 2009.” explains Shari Aldrich, President of Bodymechanics Institute. After graduating from Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy & Massage in 2006, Shari began years of teaching and traveling the country with the former owner of the school, helping teach his seminar.

In 2009, the school Shari attended, Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy & Massage, was on the brink of closing its doors forever.  Sensing a once in a lifetime opportunity, Shari jumped at the chance to purchase the school and has worked diligently over the years to re-establish the school, purchased a 6000-square foot, state of the art facility in Tumwater, Washington that includes a 7 room professional clinic with massage therapists and chiropractors.  Since 2009, Shari has expanded programs to include Certified Personal Training and Corrective Exercise at the Tumwater location and a second massage school campus in Vancouver Washington.

In 2017, Shari moved forward with her plan to help massage therapists open their own massage school with a system that will help them launch their school quickly – and realize a return on investment in less than a year.  The barriers to entry is daunting for many massage therapists who have a dream of owning their own school – program development alone would take 18 months to 2 years.  For those who are unsure of the process, it’s easy to just let the dream die.

Shari has seen first hand the importance of owning her own massage school.  A traumatic injury in 2013 became the catalyst for change as Shari turned her focus from her successful private practice to expanding the school and developing new and innovative programs.  Helping others succeed drives Shari to create more.

At the core, Shari loves teaching massage therapy. She became an instructor just 4 months out of school and still to this
day gets excited to teach students a new concept, to share her knowledge and to witness her students develop into exceptional massage therapists. Spreading her love for massage therapy and business development is the driving force behind her desire to launch the program around the country.

Shari is currently serving as the President for the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (2021 – current) which is an independent voice, advocate and resource for the massage therapy community. She is being inducted into the massage therapy Hall of Fame in July, 2023.

Massage Classroom

Students utilize clay and skeletons in Kinesiology.

The cornerstone of our program is a layered curriculum that enhances knowledge in massage theory, anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology and business.

Beyond the basics though, with your massage knowledge and passion for this work, the school curriculum will help you teach students to comprehend material which will enable them to pass the MBLEx with confidence.

Our innovation at creating a fun and challenging program that engages students sets us apart from other programs.  As Shari spends time with leaders in the entrepreneurial world, new programs are developed that engage students beyond the classroom and creates a strong family bond that lasts for many years.

But, we offer more than just a massage therapy program. We address the education on the 4 Pillars of Success:

Technique

Communication

Marketing

Critical Thinking Skills

Massage School Students

A New Approach

Our core curriculum that owners  receive is designed with student success in mind.  We work with the owners to ensure they understand the program – and then work with them to get them up and running in the shortest amount of time.

The 4 Pillars of Success – Technique, Marketing, Communication and Critical Thinking Skills set students and graduates for success.  Each class is built on the 4 Pillars and facilitate success.

Our primary goal with this program is to walk beside owners and help them be successful, and then be there as a resource when needed.  Our  model offers tools for success – including the curriculum, quizzes, exams, policies, procedures, best practices and more.

This is NOT a franchise.  After the program is purchased and a comfort level with ownership is established, owners are free to make changes (in accordance with state requirements) so that the program is truly theirs. When you step up, we step back and serve as ongoing mentors to your program.
